Due to the scorching heat in Sivan, the groundwater level is constantly dropping. The farmers are very worried because of the scorching heat. Farmers have to use pumps to sow fields in the fields. Farmers start sowing seeds in the fields from the first week of June.
.
Many times there were storms in Sivan, the weather was pleasant, but until now it hasn’t rained as it should. Because of this the fields are dry. In such a situation, even if farmers sow rice straw in the fields, the straw does not germinate due to heat.
The water level has dropped due to extreme heat
Farmers also claim that there is no system of tube wells in any area in Sion district and also water is not entering the canal properly. There is a network of canals spread throughout the district, but there is no water in it. Here the farmers also blame the Gandak administration. Farmers say that in this scorching heat the water level under the ground has dropped considerably.
It is very difficult to irrigate the fields even with pumps. If water had reached the city, the farmers would have been able to irrigate their fields. Where there is a tube well, it doesn’t work either. Due to non-functioning of tube wells, farmers are unable to get water at the right time. Farmers across the district irrigate the fields with the help of pumps and plow the fields.
