Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not the skill of the future. But now people working in all industries need to be upskilled. While the debate about whether artificial intelligence will replace human labor continues, one country is stepping up to teach people how it can be used.
Singapore realized that it would be good to learn how to use artificial intelligence to our advantage before other countries. With things changing in today’s world, people aged 40 and above are interested in upgrading their skills. They need to learn the skills now, says the Singapore government.
Age over 40 should learn AI
The Singapore government has launched a new subsidy scheme for people aged 40 and above to upgrade their skills. It covers at least 90 per cent of the fees for a full-time diploma course in higher education.
Speaking about the government’s new subsidy scheme for skills development, Member of Parliament Tan Wu Meng said it would benefit middle-aged and young adults as everyone learns together. The government’s new subsidy told Singaporeans that what they learned at school in their 20s has changed, and that people in their 40s need to learn to create and develop a new world.

Middle-aged workers learn new skills alongside younger workers, people aged 18, 19, 20 and over, helping to learn more. In the classes, experienced workers share their life experience and wisdom with everyone. Member of Parliament Tan Wu Meng explained that younger children pass on the skills they know to middle-aged adults.
Future perspective
Singapore will invest more than $1 billion in AI computing, talent and industry development over the next five years as part of its National AI Strategy (NIAS) 2.0. The MP talked about how AI technology is developing faster than people imagine.
Know how the technology will lead to development in the next 2-3 years. In my estimation it will progress very quickly. Within 10 months, OpenAI announced the Sora platform for AI-generated video production,” he said while commenting on OpenAI’s new video tool, maker of ChatGPT.
No country, no economy can keep the change in the world through artificial intelligence a secret. We all have to agree on this. Member of Parliament Tan Wu Meng said that we should support our people and lead them up.
