SI killed in Kolkata museum firing by CISF jawan

One person was killed and several others injured when a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawan opened fire at the Indian Museum (Museum) on Park Street in Kolkata on Saturday evening. The accused jawan has been caught by the Kolkata Police.
The jawan used his service weapon AK-47 to open fire on the Assistant Sub-Inspector of CISP and the Head Constable. Assistant SI died of bullet injuries.
Kolkata Police Commissioner said an ASI was killed and an Assistant Commandant rank officer was injured. The accused is a head constable. About 15 rounds were fired. But it is too early to say why the assailant opened fire. We will ask him for more details.
He said that around 6.30 pm we got information about firing inside the Indian Museum. Immediately DC Central, Combat Team, QRT teams reached the premises. We tried to control the situation.

The museum was cordoned off from all sides and CISF personnel entered the museum along with security forces. The incident took place in the barracks of the museum adjoining India’s “oldest and largest” museum. Located in the heart of the city, the museum is an autonomous organization under the administrative control of the Union Ministry of Culture.
