Seven more people lost their lives on Tuesday due to floods in Assam, while more than 4.23 lakh people were affected in nine districts. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority’s daily flood report, four people died in Sunai and one in Silchar mandal of Cachar district due to the floods. Besides, one person each died in Nagaon district and Kamrup metropolis. Also, the number of people who lost their lives in floods, landslides and storms reached 30 this year.
More than 4,23,000 people were affected due to floods in Cachar, Dhamaji, Dima Hasao, Hailkandi, Hojai, West Karbi Anglong, Karimganj, Murgaon and Nagaon districts. Most of the 2.13 lakh people are badly affected by the Nagaon. After that, more than 1.19 lakh people are suffering in Cachar and 60,500 people in Hojai. As of Monday, more than 6.25 lakh people have been affected in 10 districts of Assam. The government operates 167 camps in six districts, where 32,872 people took shelter, and 73 aid distribution centers in four districts.
