ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Parliamentary Party in Parliament and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Senator Irfan-ul-Haque Siddiqui has expressed strong disapproval of the actions of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership. , accusing the party of attacking the federation several times through the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government.
In a statement shared on his official account ‘X’ on Sunday, he mentioned the political rivalry of the past but noted that such untoward acts were unprecedented in the history of Pakistan.
Recalling previous political tensions between the PML-N and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Siddiqui said that PML-N was in power in some regions, and PPP in others, whether in the federation or the states, despite their differences, there was no there was never a time when a provincial government, led by a prime minister, launched an offensive action against the federation.
He lamented that such an undemocratic incident was witnessed during the PTI government in KP, referring to the 2016 protest led by then Prime Minister Pervez Khattak and the subsequent 2022 protest led by former Prime Minister Imran Khan with’ r Prime Minister at the time Mahmood Khan.
Siddiqui accused Prime Minister Ali Amin Gandapur of following in the footsteps of his predecessors in an attempt to attack the federal government with all the resources of the state.
He criticized PTI for turning what he described as ‘attacks on the federation’ into a normal practice, noting that no political party in any democratic country across the world engages in such unparliamentary behaviour. He asked if any political group operating in this illegal manner could be recognized as a legitimate political entity.
