Achi News Updates,

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Ajit Pawar on Friday said in a light vein that he wanted to be Maharashtra’s deputy chief minister twice and home minister twice, but “elders” in his party thought he would get the chief ministership. They won’t listen.

The Leader of the Legislative Opposition made the comment during a meeting of the Pune wing of the NCP, where an activist mentioned that when the party becomes part of the government in future, he (Pawar) should be the Home Minister.

Last time when I was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister, I said that time make me Home Minister. But the seniors thought that if they gave me the post of home minister, they would not listen to me,” he quipped.

Pawar said that after the resignation of Anil Deshmukh as Home Minister in April last year, he again requested the party to give him the Home Minister’s post, but he did not get the portfolio.

Speaking to reporters later, the senior NCP leader clarified that he had made a light note of the Home Ministry while addressing party workers. Pawar said.

Asked about the National Investigation Agency (NIA) raids on the Popular Front of India and the arrest of more than 100 of its members across the country, Pawar said arrests were made in 12 to 15 states, with the maximum in Kerala and Maharashtra. After looking into some serious matters, a decision (to raid BFI offices) was taken at a high level (at the Centre),” he said.
