West Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Pant said on Monday that the state government is working for the safety of doctors and its results will be visible soon. He urged the junior doctors to be patient. When Pant was asked about the words of the Supreme Court during the hearing of the case of the rape and murder of RGKR, Pant said that the agitating junior doctors must not be impatient. According to him, the government expects the junior doctors to be aware of their responsibilities and do their best to serve the patients.

The Supreme Court, while hearing the RG Kar rape and murder case, expressed displeasure over the West Bengal government’s slow progress in installing CCTV and building separate toilets and toilets in the medical college and directed the state to complete the work by October 15.

Fant said such work takes some time. He said, ‘Work is being done everywhere. In some places, 30 percent of the work has been completed, and in some places, 70 percent of the work has been completed. The government is aware and active. CM Mamata Banerjee herself is monitoring the situation. This is a joint effort and I am sure the results will be visible. We must not be impatient.

Address the agitated junior doctors to provide adequate services, Pant said, they are highly educated and professional people and we believe they understand their responsibilities. He said the government had not been formally briefed on the Supreme Court’s comments.

Let us tell you that on the morning of August 9, the body of a junior doctor was found inside the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, who was allegedly raped and murdered. Following the incident, junior doctors ‘stopped working’ from August 9. The state government held several rounds of talks with junior doctors about their demands for the dismissal of some key officials in the police and health departments and the strengthening of security measures in medical establishments. Junior doctors partially returned to duty on September 21 after a gap of 42 days.

On Saturday night, the doctors said they would resume the “complete work stoppage” in the state’s medical colleges after seeing the state government’s petition in the Supreme Court on Monday. His decision came after an attack on three doctors and three nurses at the Seguro Dota Medical College and Hospital near Kolkata on Friday night following the death of a patient.
