Islamabad: A review meeting regarding the track and trace system was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has decided to take urgent action against tax defaulters and tax evaders. The Prime Minister of the UK has directed the formation of an investigative committee to identify the obstacles in the tracking and tracing system and to identify those responsible.
During the next seven days, the investigative committee will identify the obstacles preventing the full implementation of the tracking and tracing system and the people involved in tax evasion, and a detailed briefing was given on the obstacles to full implementation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said why the tracking and tracing system could not be fully activated in the tobacco, sugar, cement and fertilizer industries, the tracking and tracing system should be fully restored in the two years last, in these four major sectors. Apart from this, a tracking and tracing system should be installed in other important sectors as well.
The Prime Minister directed that the sale of counterfeit and unregistered cigarettes should be stopped and that they should be confiscated and destroyed. The Prime Minister directed that law enforcement agencies should assist the FBR in this regard, The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ahad Khan Cheema, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Jahanzeb Khan, Chairman FBR Malik Amjad Zubair Towana and senior relevant officers.
