MUMBAI: Renowned Indian activist and scientist Sonam Wangchuk, who is famously depicted in Amir Khan’s film “3 Idiots”, is currently on a hunger strike to advocate for the autonomy of Ladakh, a region which is nestled in the Himalayas.
Wangchuk’s campaign aims to shed light on the detrimental effects of industrialization on Ladakh’s fragile ecology and glaciers. In addition, he is protesting against what local residents see as an encroachment by China on their territory.
Despite pleas from fans concerned about his health, Wangchuk remains steadfast in his determination to complete a 21-day hunger strike. His decision underlines his commitment to the cause and his belief in the importance of raising awareness about the challenges facing Ladakh.
