Rahul, Priyanka arrested; Prohibitory order 144 has been issued in Delhi

New Delhi: Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor were arrested by the Delhi Police on Friday as they staged a rally at Rashtrapati Bhavan against inflation, price hike, GST and unemployment.
The grand old party has decided to hold an all-India protest on Friday and protest outside the residences of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Draupadi Murmu, but the Delhi Police has ruled it out.
Delhi Police has imposed Section 144 of CrPC in New Delhi district except Jandar Mandar after the Congress party decided to hold nationwide protests against inflation and unemployment. Congress leaders have said that they will go ahead with their proposed protest even if they do not get permission from the Delhi Police.

Congress MPs including Mallikarjun Kharge, Jairam Ramesh and Ranjeet Ranjan were also detained at Police Lines Kingsway camp in Delhi. Police arrested Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who was protesting against the central government over rising prices and unemployment in Delhi.

“All the Congress MPs marched towards Rashtrapati Bhavan to raise the issue of inflation and price hike, but they did not allow us to leave here. Our job is to raise people’s issues… Some MPs were detained, beaten up,” he said before being detained.
While the Delhi Police has refused permission for this, the Congress Party is conducting a huge protest. ParamilitACHI forces and Delhi Police barricaded Vijay Chowk Road and the road leading to the President’s House from Parliament.
“This struggle is about price hike and Agnipat. Price hikes affect everyone. As a political party and as elected representatives we are committed to voicing the burdens and fears of the people. This is what we are doing,” Congress MP and senior leader P Chidambaram told reporters.
Women paramilitaries have been lined up on the other side of the barricades to prevent Congress MPs from protesting. They also plan to kerau the Prime Minister’s House. Addressing a press conference, Rahul Gandhi said that there is no democracy in India now and our country is under the dictatorship of four people.
Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and MP Mallikarjun Kharge, among others, wore black to support the protests called by the Congress against price hikes and inflation.
While Rahul Gandhi chose to wear a black shirt, Priyanka Gandhi Vadera wore a black dress. Comparing Prime Minister Modi with Hitler, Rahul Gandhi said, “Hitler won the election and he will win the election too. How did he do it? He controlled all of Germany’s institutions…Give me the whole system and I’ll show you how elections are won.
Rahul Gandhi also said, “We are witnessing the death of democracy. Brick-built India nearly a century ago is crumbling before your eyes. Anyone who stands against this idea of the beginning of totalitarianism is brutally beaten, jailed, arrested and beaten.
After Rahul Gandhi’s press conference, BJP’s Gaurav Bhatia said, “Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi got bail in 2015 in National Herald case. The case was filed a long time ago and they did not raise such issues (ED controlled). It’s a trick to distract from the entangled. Bhatia’s comments came after Rahul Gandhi alleged that the ED and other independent agencies were being controlled by the BJP and RSS and were being used to intimidate the opposition.
The Congress party is protesting today against price hike, unemployment and GST tax hike. In Delhi, party leaders marched from Parliament to Rashtrapati Bhavan. State units of the party will hold similar protests across the country.

The Delhi Police has refused permission for the Congress to hold a protest in the national capital, citing restrictions. Opposition MPs chanted slogans against the government as Opposition leader Sonia Gandhi stood with women MPs and carried a banner outside Gate No. 1, demanding a rollback of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) hike on essential goods. Parliament.
However, Delhi Police stopped the protesters and did not allow them to proceed towards Rashtrapati Bhavan. Sonia Gandhi did not participate in the rally. Other Congress MPs were arrested by the police at Vijay Chowk.
