Kolkata;“With Jonny Bairstow’s century, Punjab Kings created a world record for the highest run chase in T20 cricket history. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) achieved the target with eight wickets in hand in an IPL match here on Friday.
Punjab Kings outperformed South Africa’s 259 for 4 against the West Indies in March last year.
In the IPL, Rajasthan Royals recently broke the previous record of chasing 224 runs against KKR at the Eden Gardens and equaled the record set against the then Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in Sharjah in 2020.
Kolkata Knight Riders, who came out to bat, scored 261 runs for six wickets but Punjab Kings chased down the target with eight balls remaining.
