Pub company sells famous Glasgow bar to former operator Achi-News

Other licensed premises being sold on behalf of Three Thistles include The Clockwork Beer Co on the south side of Glasgow, The Steading country pub on the outskirts of Edinburgh, the West Side Tavern in Partick in Glasgow, The Laird and Dog in Lasswade, Telfords in Paisley, and The Dog House in Balloch.

Gary Louttit, Shepherd’s head of hospitality and leisure, said of the sale of Dram: “I’m delighted to have brought this iconic business to market and been able to see the huge level of interest shown in it, leading to early sale at the best possible price.

“And I can confirm that proposals are in place for the rest of the portfolio, and I expect to see all properties completed in the coming weeks.”

Shepherd said: “Dram on Woodlands Road is located in a long established licensed entertainment circuit in the west end of Glasgow and close to The Stand Comedy Club.”

In November last year, the sale of the portfolio of seven licensed sites was announced by Three Thistles, a company owned by a large and diverse group of shareholders.

Mr Louttit said at the time: “It is a very voluntary decision, and prejudiced by the shareholders to put it on the market.”
