Starting today, people in BC will have access to another booster of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The new booster will be available in pharmacies, regional health authority clinics, some primary care offices, and community health centres.
According to the BC Government, the SARS CoV-2 virus continues to circulate at lower levels in the community.
Health officials recommend an additional dose of the XBB.1.5 COVID-19 vaccine for:
- adults 65 and over
- Indigenous adults aged 55 and over
- Adult residents of long-term care homes and assisted living facilities (including those awaiting placement)
- individuals aged six months and older who have been found to be clinically extremely vulnerable
The province says since the 2023-24 respiratory illness immunization campaign was launched on October 10, 2023, 1,457,246 doses of COVID-19 vaccines and 1,562,023 flu vaccines have been administered. (on 31 March)
