Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Japan on September 27 to attend the funeral of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who was shot dead in July. Abe, Japan’s longest-serving prime minister, was shot dead on July 8 while giving a campaign speech in western Japan ahead of July 10 elections to the House of Councilors.
Modi will leave for Japan on September 27 to attend a state funeral, the External Affairs Ministry said. He will also meet Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida separately during this visit.
Modi had a close relationship with Abe. He had mourned the death of his “dear friend” Abe and said the former Japanese prime minister had dedicated his life to making the world a better place.
