Prashant Kishore said that the BJP has influence, but it does not mean that the party and Prime Minister Modi cannot be defeated.

If the Congress does not get results as expected in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, then Rahul Gandhi should consider taking a break from politics. Political strategist Prashant Kishore said this in an interview given to news agency PTI.

Prashant said – Rahul Gandhi has been trying unsuccessfully for the last 10 years to ensure that the Congress wins. Despite this, he did not distance himself from politics and did not allow anyone else to become the face of the party. In my opinion this is not democratic.

Prashant said – When you (Rahul Gandhi) have been doing the same work for the last 10 years and not getting any success in it, then there is no harm in taking a break. You should let someone else do it for five years. Your mother did the same.

Prashant said – What did Sonia Gandhi do after the assassination of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. In 1991 he distanced himself from politics. Congress order was given to PV Narasimha Rao. You all know the result of it.

Prashant’s 4 tips for Rahul…

1. If you don’t win in Hindi belt, there is no point in winning Wayanad.
As for Rahul, Prashant said that the Congress is fighting in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, but their leaders are visiting Manipur and Meghalaya. If you don’t win in UP, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, then there is no use of winning from Wayanad. You cannot win the country by winning Kerala alone. Leaving Amethi will also send a wrong message.

Giving the example of Prime Minister Modi, Prashant said – Narendra Modi had chosen to contest Uttar Pradesh elections along with his home state Gujarat in 2014. So, because you cannot conquer India unless you conquer the Hindi belt or establish a presence in the Hindi belt.

2. Rahul thinks he knows everything
Prashant Kishore Says – There is an expertise of good and great leaders all over the world. They know what they want. They always try to correct their faults and imperfections, but Rahul thinks he knows everything.

He said- If you do not recognize the need for help, no one can help you. I think Rahul Gandhi feels he needs someone who can do what he thinks is right. it is not possible.

3. Rahul left the post of party president in 2019, he did not say what he said
Prashant Kishore said – After the defeat of the party in the 2019 elections, Rahul had decided to resign from the post of Congress President. He had then written that he would step back and give the responsibility of the party to someone else, but he is doing the opposite of what he wrote. Congress and its supporters are bigger than any individual. Rahul should not insist that he will lead the party despite repeated failures.

4. It is wrong to question the Electoral Commission and the media about the defeat.
Prashant questioned Rahul’s claims where he blamed the Election Commission, the judiciary and the media for defeating him in the elections. He said this may be partly true, but not the whole truth. He said that the Congress had reduced to 44 seats from 206 seats in the 2014 elections when it was in power and the BJP had little influence in various institutions.

3 special things about Prashant’s interview…

1. The reason for BJP’s victory is the opposition’s weak strategy.
Prashant claimed that BJP would become the dominant party in Odisha and West Bengal in the Lok Sabha elections. BJP can stay first or second in Telangana. BJP’s vote share in Tamil Nadu may reach double digits.

Of the total 543 Lok Sabha seats, Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Kerala account for 204 each. However, BJP could not cross the 50 seat mark in all these states combined in 2014 or 2019.

Prashant said – Due to sluggish and weak opposition strategy, BJP seems to be benefiting in South and East India. In these two areas, it is possible that the party’s share of the vote and seats will increase compared to 2019. These are two areas where the party’s grip is weak.

2. The opposition missed opportunities to stop the BJP
Kishor said that the BJP has influence, but it does not mean that the party and Prime Minister Modi cannot be defeated. The opposition got three chances to stop the BJP juggernaut, but they lost all the three chances due to lazy and wrong strategies.

Prashant Kishore said that after 2014, BJP is on his back. Then Congress failed to take advantage of it. The BJP had a disappointing election season in 2015 and 2016, when it lost several assembly elections, except in Assam.

After winning the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2017, the BJP’s performance was poor again. In 2018, the party lost in many states, but the Congress gave it a chance to make a comeback in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Modi faced a decline in his approval rating after Covid in 2020. BJP lost badly in West Bengal. On the other hand, the opposition leaders sat in their homes instead of facing the challenge, giving Modi a chance to make a political comeback. If you keep dropping catches, the batsman will score a century, especially if he is a good batsman.

3. It is very difficult for CM Jagan Mohan to return to power in Andhra.
Prashant Kishore also spoke about the assembly elections being held along with the Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh. He said- This time it will be very difficult for Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy to come back. Like former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel, Reddy is busy pleasing the voters instead of fulfilling the aspirations of the people.

Kishore said that Reddy was like the kings of old, who used to distribute money to poor people. Similarly Reddy hands over cash to people. Do nothing for their development. It has done nothing to provide jobs to the people of the state or boost the stalled development.
