Poland will extend the embargo on the import of some goods – AgroNews Achi-News

In Poland, a decision was made not to stop the passage of Ukrainian grain through the country. At the same time, the embargo on the import of certain crops from Ukraine was extended in Warsaw. This is reported by Hromadske, writer of agronews.ua.

Such a statement was made by the Ministry of Agriculture and Development of Poland following negotiations with protesting farmers.

They note that the negotiations with the farmers continued until “late this evening”. The department also notes that the signed agreements have already been “implemented for the most part”.

“Regarding the fact that the Ukrainian side announced the minimization of the transit of its agricultural products through Poland from April to June this year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development did not request to stop the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products through Poland,” the ministry said.

In addition, the Polish authorities and farmers agreed on:

• The continuation of the embargo on the import of grains, corn, rapeseed, sunflower seeds, flour, bran, meal, cake from Ukraine;
• activation of aid to Polish grain producers;
• maintaining the amount of the agricultural tax at the level of 2023;
• Acknowledgment by farmers of the satisfaction of the “Green Deal” after the European Commission abandoned many of its points due to protests.

The ministry also stated that the department complies with the requirements and agreements with the protesters, but some operations still require many inter-ministerial agreements and specific procedures, which delays their implementation.
