NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) is part of India and Hindus and Muslims living in the occupied territory are “us”.

“PoK is part of India. There is no question of Hindu or Muslim. Muslims or Hindus are there,” Shah was quoted as saying by India Today.

On the party’s slogan of ‘char sau paar’, Shah said: “We have a good track record of the last 10 years and an agenda for the next 25 years – building ‘Mahan Bharat’.”

Apart from electoral mathematics, the Home Minister explained the government’s stand on a variety of issues – from the Uniform Civil Code to the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, from the caste census to One Nation, One Poll, from the alleged release of the BJP central investigative agencies. against his opponents to the violence in Manipur.

On electoral bonds, Shah remained unfazed, claiming that the BJP got only Rs 6,000 crore out of a total of Rs 20,000 crore of bonds. While respecting the court’s ruling, he feared that reversing the bonds would mean that black money would return to politics.

Shah said his party follows the agenda of development, not division, an agenda linked to the nation’s security, self-respect, and the primacy of its culture. Doffing a hat to his boss and political mentor and the country’s prime minister, Narendra Modi, he said his progress has meant the end of casteism, nepotism, appeasement and corruption in Indian politics. “My political birth was in the BJP, my demise will also be in the BJP,” he said.

As for alliances as polls approach, he said that alliances are about chemistry, not physics, that one and one is not always two, sometimes it’s 11 and many times one and one become zero. The first alliance kept long term fundamentals in mind, the split with JJP was due to seat sharing disagreement.

It was the 21st edition of the India Today Conclave, a day before the schedule for the summer general election was announced when the Home Minister answered every bouncer that was thrown with a straight bat. Be it the notification about the Citizenship Amendment Act, the Supreme Court turning up the heat on electoral bonds, breaking and unbreaking alliances, Shah explained the position of his party, the BJP, on everyone, sometimes with disarming wit, other times with dismissal. sleepy .
