More than 1 crore people have registered on PM Suryaghar’s Free Electricity Scheme in less than a month. The Chief Minister has given this information on social media platform X. Under this scheme, 1 crore houses will get 300-300 units of free electricity.

How much will it cost to set up a solar factory?
In this scheme, 60% of the cost of solar plants up to 2 KW for each family will come in the account in the form of a subsidy. But if someone wants to set up a 3 KW plant, then 40% subsidy will be available on an additional 1 KW plant.
Setting up a 3 KW plant will cost around Rs 1.45 lakh. From that, the government will give a subsidy of Rs 78 thousand. The government has made arrangements for a cheap bank loan for the remaining Rs 67,000. Banks will be able to charge interest only 0.5% more than the repo rate.
What needs to be done to set up a solar plant?
The government has launched a national portal for the scheme. To install it, you can apply by visiting the user portal. Here you will have to fill in information such as your user number, name, address and the amount of capacity equipment you want to set up.
Discom companies will verify these details and move the process forward. Many sellers are already registered on the portal who install solar panels. You can choose any vendor as per your convenience. After installing the panels, the discom will install net meters.
How will subsidy be available after installing solar equipment?
When the solar machine is installed and the discom installs net meters, its proof and certificate will be uploaded on the portal. After this, the government will transfer the entire amount of subsidy under DBT to the user’s account.
Will 300 units of electricity be available for free in this scheme?
A 1Kw solar plant produces about 4-5 units of electricity every day. In such a situation, if you install a 3 Kw plant, then around 15 units of electricity will be produced every day. That means 450 units per month. You can use this electricity. The rest of the electricity will go back through net meters and you will also get money for this electricity. The government says you can earn around Rs 15,000 in a year from this electricity.
