A Pakistan Navy Warship safely rescued 8 Iranian fishermen from the open sea after an uncontrolled fire broke out on their boat, the Pakistan Navy said in a statement on Monday.
The distress call from the Iranian fishing boat reported a huge uncontrollable fire on board for help to rescue the 8 member crew who left the boat.
PNS YARMOOK while operating in the vicinity of the unfortunate boat, immediately rushed to deal with the situation. “Despite a heavy fire on board, PNS YARMOOK not only rescued all 8 crew members safely from the Sea but also brought the fire on board the blazing ship under control using its modern fire fighting equipment own,” he added.
Rescue and humanitarian assistance operations by the Pakistan Navy in International waters are a great manifestation of the vigilance and professionalism of the PN.
“Pak Navy is committed and bound to effectively ensure Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) in accordance with UNCLOS while protecting National Maritime borders,” the statement read.
