Bhubaneswar: BJP chapter has started in Odisha. Tribal leader Mohan Charan Mazi was sworn in as Chief Minister today. The oath taking ceremony was held at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar around 5 pm. 52-year-old Mohan Mazi took over as the first BJP Chief Minister in the state. Mazi became the BJP’s first chief minister as Biju Janata Dal (BJD) chief Naveen Patnaik’s 24-year tenure came to an end after a massive defeat in the assembly elections.

Two Deputy Prime Ministers were sworn in after the CM. Six-time Member of Parliament Kanak Vardhan Singh Dev and first time MLA Prabhati Parida took oath as DCM. Governor Raghubar Das administered the oath. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers and Chief Ministers of many BJP-ruled states participated in the ceremony.

Cabinet Ministers
Suresh Pujari, Rabi Narayan Naik, Nithyananda Gond, Krishna Chandra Patra, Prithviraj Harichandan, Mukesh Mahaling, Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, Dr Krishna Chandra Mahapatra took oath as Cabinet members of BJP government. Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, Suryabanshi Suraj Stitapragya, Pradeep Bala Samanta, Gokul Nanda Mallik, Sampad Chandra Swain were sworn in as Ministers of State (MoS) with independent charge.
Mohan Charan Mazi met former CM Naveen Patnaik this morning and invited him to the swearing-in ceremony. In the state assembly elections, BJP won 78 seats out of 147, while BJD lost 51 seats.
