Now the train from Tarkeswar to Bishnupur! Kamarpukur, Jairambati will be read, when will it start? – News18 Bangla Achi-News

Kolkata: Aimed at increasing connectivity and boosting tourism in West Bengal, the Tarkeswar-Bishnupur rail link project is progressing towards completion at a remarkable pace. The aim of this effort is to establish a seamless railway connecting Tarkeswar, the city known as the abode of Lord Shiva, with the magical wonder of Bishnupur, known for its terracotta temples. The proposed circuit route will have intermediate halts at Kamarpukur and Jayarambati, which houses the memorials of Yugapurush Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansadev and Ma Sarada.

The Bishnupur-Tarkeshwar New Line project, originally approved in 2001, spans 87 km and will not only facilitate pilgrimage but also act as an alternative route for freight between the South Eastern Railway and the Eastern Railway. However, despite so much potential, the project faced significant delays mainly due to land acquisition and disputes.

In order to revive the project and speed up its completion, Eastern Railway has launched a new initiative structured in several phases:
1. Mainapur to Bara Gopinathpur (7.7 km): Significant progress has been made on this stretch, with more than 80% of earth excavation and bridge construction completed. The construction of Gopinathpur mega station is in full swing.

2. Bara Gopinathpur to Jayarambati (7.1 km): Significant progress has also been made in this section, with 70% of earth excavation and bridge construction completed. Currently the construction work of Jayarambati station is going on.

3. Jayarambati to Kamarpukur (5 km): Delay in land acquisition has hampered the progress of the work, especially on the 2.5 km stretch. However, after solving the problem and paying additional compensation, the required land has been handed over to the railway authorities on March 8, 2024.

4. Kamarpukur to Goghat (5.5 km): Most of the major work on this section has been completed except the 900m wide Bhabadighi area. The railway authorities are hoping for a peaceful solution to the Bhabadighi problem very soon.

After the expected completion in 2025, the Tarkeswar-Bishnupur rail link project is expected to fulfill the long-standing aspirations of the people of Bengal. This breakthrough will not only facilitate easy rail connectivity between the birthplaces of Ma Saradamani and Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansadeva, but will also fulfill the emotional needs of pilgrims, tourists and devotees seeking spiritual peace, knowledge, meditation and nididhyasana.

The project has reached the threshold of success and is a testament to the resilience and determination of the authorities involved, ushering in a new era of connectivity and cultural enrichment in the heartland of West Bengal.
