‘Notorious gang of burglars’ arrested in Ganderbal Achi-News

GANDERBAL: Police in Ganderbal busted a notorious gang of burglars and recovered stolen property worth lakhs. Besides, 03 accused involved in committing crime were arrested.

On 22/03/2024, Gond Police Station received a written complaint from a person, Tajamul Hussain, the owner of Hong Park Restaurant, that during the intervention night of 21-22/03/2024, some unknown persons had broken locks and burglarized. into his restaurant, and stole valuable items such as a generator, two inverter units, transformer, coffee maker, grill/toaster, gas stove, gas cylinders, utensils, electrical cables and damaged CCTV cameras and other items.

Accordingly, a case in FIR No.11/2024 was registered at PS Gund, under relevant sections of law, and the investigation was entrusted to a special police team under the supervision of SDPO Kangan Muzaffar Jan-JKPS.

After strenuous efforts and by taking the technical support, PS Gund Special Police Team led by SHO PS Gund zeroed in few suspects and started hunting them. In the process, the suspect was caught, Irshad Ahmed Kalwatu, the son of father Rashid Kalwatu, a resident of Naninara, Sombal, and during an ongoing investigation, he admitted to having committed the crime and also revealed the identity of the other accused, namely Feroz Ahmed Kalwatu son. Farooq Ahmed Kalwatu and Mohd Salem Kalu @Jana son of Abdul Khaliq Kalu, both residents of Naninara, Sombal, who were subsequently arrested.

Upon their disclosure, the stolen property worth lakhs was recovered from various places in Naninara, Sombal.

During further investigation, more stolen property was found which exposed the unreported theft cases in JD by the notorious gang. Moreover, a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK01M-6083 used to commit crime was also seized.

Further investigation is ongoing. More arrests and recovery of stolen property are expected.

“The general public hailed the swift action of the J&K Police in apprehending the burglars and hoped that culprits involved in such crimes would be dealt with strictly according to law,” the police statement said.
