It is worth noting that Perner’s MLA Nilesh Lanka left the Ajit Pawar-led NCP just before the Lok Sabha elections. Lanka contested from the Ahmednagar seat on the NCP (SP) ticket and defeated the sitting BJP MP Sujay Vika Patil.
Bajrang Sonawane also left the Ajit Pawar-led NCP and contested the Lok Sabha polls from Bid on an NCP (SP) ticket. He defeated former state minister and BJP candidate Pankaja Munde.
According to reports, there is discontent within the NCP and the Shiv Sena, allies of the ruling BJP, over the allocation of portfolios at the Centre.
The Ajit Pawar-led party was only offered the post of minister of state with independent responsibility, which it refused, while only one Shiv Sena MP – Prataprau Jadhav – was included in the Union government as an MoS (independent charge) despite the Sindh-led party having seven members of parliament
