The National Human Rights Commission appealed to end the NATA system and issued notices to the central government and several states. According to the NATA method, girls from several communities are allegedly sold on paper stamps or in the name of marriage, but these marriages have no legal rights.
The committee requested an answer within eight weeks
The National Human Rights Commission said in a statement that the nata system is an immoral practice for women and girls. The committee has appealed to end it and issued notices to the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development and to four states, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, where this evil practice is prevalent. The committee ordered to submit a report within eight weeks on the actions taken in this matter. The committee gave these instructions due to a complaint.
The committee took action based on this case
In fact, on July 15, 2020, a complaint was filed in Rajasthan, in which the father of a minor girl claimed that his daughter was abducted in Salamgarh in Pratapgarh district of Rajasthan and her body was found in Danpur, Banswara. When the commission investigated the matter, it was found that the girl’s father sold her under NATA system for Rs 2.5 lakh on 11 July 2019. The boy gave Rs 60 thousand as per the agreement and promised to pay the rest on 10 January 2020. When the boy could not pay the money In time, the father returned his daughter.
