Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Amul Mitkari on Saturday lined up for an alliance with the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA). He said that if Dalit leader Prakash Ambedkar and NCP leader Ajit Pawar join hands for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, the equations in the state will change. Mitkari’s comments came at a time when there were rumblings of disagreement between the RSS and the Shiv Shiv Sena over the inclusion of Ajit Pawar in the grand alliance.
Legislative council member and NCP spokesperson Mitkari said that Mahayuti leaders should not underestimate the status of NCP leaders. He said as a party worker, I feel that if Prakash Ambedkar and Ajit Pawar join hands, things will be different in Maharashtra. During this period, he described Prakash as a great leader (who is the grandson of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar) and Ajit as an important leader. However, he termed his comment as a personal opinion.
Can’t even think of alliance unless with BJP: Rekha Thakur
On the other hand, VBA Maharashtra unit chief Rekha Thakur reacted to NCP MLA Mitkari’s statement. He said his party cannot even think of joining hands with the Nationalist Congress Party as long as it is part of the BJP-led alliance.
