Surgana, News Service Leader: Holi festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm in these tribal areas. Chakarmani, who has gone out of the village for work and business, comes to the village on the occasion of Holi. The custom of asking for a ‘bag’ on the occasion of the Holi pilgrimage is still celebrated in this village.

A grand yatra of Goddess Durga is held at Surgana on the occasion of Holi. Many businessmen and traders from outside villages attend this yatra. So there is a huge financial turnover in the yatra. Folk art and folk culture can be seen during the pilgrimage. The ancient tradition of asking for a ‘bag’ during the Holi pilgrimage is still preserved in the village. During the yatra, artists wear turbans and perform their art. And then they ask five to ten rupees as a ‘fag’. Attractive cradles for children, mobile carts, decorations, toy stalls make the temple area flourish during the yatra.
