WA football star Sam Kerr has weighed in on Princess Kate’s shock cancer diagnosis, re-sharing a famous musician’s post criticizing people who “stirred a woman’s desire for privacy”.

The Matildas captain reposted American singer Halsey’s Instagram story on Saturday night, slamming the public’s reaction to Catherine’s absence.

“Hopefully the people and media who incited a woman’s desire for privacy following a known health event experience remorse and remorse,” Halsey wrote.

“And by the way, that would stand even without the terrible news about her trip.

“I understand that when you have a public life some things like this can get out of hand. But God forbid someone needs a break for a few weeks or months, it’s nobody’s business why.”

Halsey also weighed in on the unrealistic expectations placed on people in public life.

“And when it comes to public life, who you are and how you do when you ‘sign up for this’ is subject to change at any time,” he said.

“Any newly changed ‘you’ (for however long; days, weeks, years) may not have the same stamina or tolerance.”

The Princess of Wales revealed on Saturday morning that a recent cancer diagnosis was responsible for her absence from public duties.

“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” he said.

“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me a while to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment.”
