Mumbai: A Mumbai court has asked the police to investigate social media influencer Sapna Gill’s harassment complaint against Indian cricketer and Delhi Capitals player Prithvi Shaw. However, the court dismissed Sapna’s petition, which demanded action against the police for not registering an FIR against the opening batsman based on her complaint.

Metropolitan Magistrate SC Tayde has asked the police to submit their investigation report by June 19. Let us tell you, Sapna Gill has accused Shaw of harassment at a pub in Mumbai. However, Shaw has vehemently denied the allegations.

Sapna Gill, who is currently on bail, was taken into police custody after the attack on Mumbai cricketer Prithvi Shaw. This dispute between the two happened over an argument about taking a selfie. Sapna, after getting her bail, went to the Andheri airport police station to lodge a complaint of alleged molestation against Shaw. After the FIR was rejected, she approached the Magistrate’s Court.

In his complaint against Shaw and his friend Ashish Yadav, which was filed with the help of lawyer Ali Kashif Khan Desh, the social media influencer invoked Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to offend the dignity of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code. They tried to register an FIR under IPC), 354 (harassment) and 324 (willfully causing hurt with dangerous weapons or means).

Contrary to Sapna’s claim, the police said they found no evidence to prove that Prithvi Shaw molested her. After reviewing the CCTV footage of the incident, police were able to confirm that Sapna was seen chasing Prithvi Shaw’s car with a baseball bat in her hand and breaking his car window. Even witnesses confirmed that Sapna was not harassed by anyone, the police said in a statement.
