Chandigarh, Aug 6 (PTI): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has said that he will raise several issues including statutory guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops and agricultural credit at the Niti Aayog Executive Committee meeting in Delhi on Sunday. Addressing reporters here on Saturday, Mann slammed his predecessors Saranjit Singh Sunny and Amarinder Singh for not attending such meetings earlier.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chairs the seventh Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, the government’s apex policy think tank. “I am going to attend the Niti Aayog meeting. I have done my homework on Punjab issues and they will be presented during the meeting,” Mann said.
He said that after three years no representative from Punjab would attend the NITI Aayog meeting. “I will raise issues related to water, farmers’ credit, legal guarantee to MSP, canal system, ‘Buddha Nalla’ (in Ludhiana), BBMP (Bagra Beas Management Board) and sanitation,” Mann said.

The Chief Minister also said that he would meet Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in Delhi and try to raise the issue of direct international flights from Amritsar and Mohali airports to London, Chicago, San Francisco and Vancouver. Responding to a question from the MSP committee formed by the central government, Mann said the government should engage farmers’ representatives rather than those who are in favor of the now repealed agriculture laws.
