.

A fish becomes 1.25 kg in five months

A circle is 6 meters long, 4 meters wide and 4 meters deep. There is a strong net around the circle made of plastic. It cannot be cut by a turtle or other water creature. Fish farming is done in a circle of this net that floats in the water. Finger-sized fish are released into these nets for breeding.

The fish are fed daily. This fish grew from one to 1.25 kg in five months. This fish breeding technique is started as part of the fishery development program in the reservoir. The special thing is to increase the fish yield without affecting the basic purpose of the reservoir.

Many advantages of raising fish using the cage technique

Fish grow faster in cages than in ponds or lakes. The fish stay healthy and safe in this way. It is also easy to feed the fish. The fish are less likely to get sick. Because there is no contact with external fish. There is no risk of infection.

Fish breeders can take fish out of the cage according to their need and demand. If not necessary, the fish can be left in the cage. This does not cause harm but gives the fish a chance to grow even bigger. With cage technology, fish farmers achieve more profits in less time and less cost.

Also, the district will be self-sufficient in fish production. Up to 6,000 finger-sized fish will grow in one cage. In this way, more than 102 thousand fish can be raised in 17 cage units built in the Kharagpur lake. At the same time, 40 to 50 quintals will be produced from each cage.
