In addition to sophisticated equipment, skilled workers will be required to run the bank. Preparations have started to build infrastructure there. If the cornea of ​​someone’s eye is preserved within six hours of death, it can be transplanted into the eye of a blind person. But till now there was no infrastructure to preserve it in Cooch Behar.

As a result of various public and private campaigns, conscious people have increased their inclination towards post-mortem eye or body donation pledge. A few months ago, the body of a resident of Alipurduar was handed over to MJN Medical for autopsy. Cooch Behar district also has many people, who are already committed to post-mortem eye or body donation. VoluntACHI organizations claim that they can be put to good use if proper infrastructure is in place. But not only eyes, but also other organs are demanded to create suitable infrastructure for preservation. Medical authorities said that they will also be implemented step by step in the future.
