Neelu Vaghela recently spoke about the bittersweet feeling of losing her iconic character Bhabho from her previous venture.
Neelu Vaghela, who is famous for her portrayal of the beloved character Bhabho in the popular serial Diya Aur Baati Hum, has returned to the small screen with a new role in the daily soap Suhagan. While her foray as Shanti Shukla has given the show new energy, Neelu recently spoke about the bittersweet feeling of losing her iconic character from her previous venture.
In an interview with ETimes, Neelu expressed a deep sense of nostalgia and gratitude for her impactful role as Bhabho in the TV serial Diya Aur Baati Hum. He shared, “I miss playing Bhabho everyday. I feel that Bhabho is a part of every home and every family. Thanks to the channel and Shashi Sumeet Mittal Productions who gave me such a strong character. It was my TV show and the character went on to become iconic. Wherever I go people greet me as Bhabho. I feel blessed.”
Neelu’s portrayal of Bhabho left an indelible mark on Indian television, with audiences fondly remembering her stern character. Despite the challenges of transitioning from such a beloved role, Neelu expressed her gratitude for the unwavering support of her fans, who have embraced her in her new endeavours. “I’ve played the other characters too and I’m lucky that people loved that too. It is very difficult for an artist to do justice to another character after playing such a popular role,” he added.
Talking about her latest venture Suhagan, Neelu revealed her pleasant surprise at the warm reception she got from the cast and crew. He highlighted the heartfelt Girha Pravesh ceremony organized by the team, which filled him with immense joy. Neelu noted that unlike the typical sudden introductions of characters seen in TV shows, her transition to Suhagan was extremely smooth and she was overwhelmed by the warmth and hospitality of the team.
In Suhagan, Neelu embodies the role of Shanti Shukla, a gentle and soft-spoken woman with a sharp tongue, especially when she is provoked by Indu (Played by Neelima Singh), Krishna’s mother. Shanti’s love for her only son Samay is boundless and she fiercely defends him and her dignity without compromise.
Neelu is a prominent figure in Rajasthani cinema, recognized for her notable contributions. She won widespread acclaim for her portrayal of Santosh Arun Rathi, also known as Bhabho, in the popular soap opera Diya Aur Baati Hum and its sequel Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh, Piyaji on Star Plus. In addition to her acting career, Neelu runs her own production house, Aruneel Films, focusing on producing Rajasthani films.
