In Mejalaya’s capital, Shillong, a non-tribal laborer was again killed while another was injured. The wounded were hospitalized in Niger. The police registered the case and started an investigation. On the other hand, the relatives of the deceased refused to accept the bodies. The family members say that if the contractor or the police do not provide security, they will not take the body. It is noteworthy that attacks on non-tribal laborers have increased in Meghalaya in recent days. Recently, two people were allegedly beaten to death by miscreants in Ichamati in East Khasi Hills. There is an atmosphere of panic among the people.
According to the information, the incident took place in Mavroh area of ​​Shillong city. Construction work on a building is underway here. Three Bihari laborers went to work in this building. At around 10 a.m., four or five anti-social elements suddenly arrived at the site and asked them to show their work cards. Before the workers could respond, they attacked them with an iron rod, and as a result one worker died on the spot. The deceased laborer’s name was given as Arjun Rai.
Another worker was seriously injured and was taken to Nigrim Hospital for treatment, while another worker, whose name is Raja Ram, ran to save his life and told all the information to the local residents. It is worth noting that recently two laborers were beaten to death in Ichamati in East Khasi Hills. The police arrested two people in this case.
The relatives of the deceased said that he had lived here since childhood. His ancestors also came and settled there. I left the house fine in the morning, but at 12 o’clock it was all over. It is still unknown why people killed him. The family members are in a difficult situation and are crying.
