LAHORE (Newsdesk) The Punjab Board Chairman Committee (PBCC) has taken several important decisions after the cheating scandal during the Secondary School Certificate (Class 9) Part I examinations came to light.

In late March, Punjab school education minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said his team caught several fake students during a surprise visit to an exam center in the city’s Sanda district.

The students’ papers were canceled while five examination hall workers were arrested. The minister had also accused the examination center and school officials of being involved in cheating.

Taking strict notice of the illegal practices during the exams, the Punjab government formed a cabinet committee to look into the matter.

The committee directed the PBCC to take measures to prevent such behavior in future audits. According to the instructions, the Board Committee took several important decisions.

PBCC decided against hiring private invigilators for matriculation and intermediate examinations. It was also decided to choose schools, colleges and marriage halls instead of setting up centers in narrow streets for pamphlets.

It was also decided that watermarks will be used on the question papers to prevent them from being dropped before the examination. The committee also instructed the officers to prepare a list of those who failed to fulfill their duties diligently.
