Mamata Banerjee met Prime Minister Modi and discussed various issues including GST

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence on Friday.

Sources said that Mamata Banerjee will discuss issues related to the state including GST arrears with the Prime Minister. The Chief Minister, who arrived here on Thursday during a four-day visit to Delhi, is also scheduled to meet President Draupadi Murmu.

West Bengal Chief Minister is also likely to attend Niti Aayog Governing Council meeting chaired by Prime Minister on August 7. Last year he did not participate in the meeting.

Banerjee, the Trinamool Congress president, met her party MPs on Thursday and discussed the party’s strategy and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls during the monsoon session of Parliament.

The All India Trinamool Congress said on its Twitter page, ‘Our leader Mamata Adhikari held a meeting with all the MPs in Delhi. The current parliamentACHI session discussed the path to 2024 and various issues, outlining several activities and initiatives for the coming days. We are always committed to serving people.

Mamata Banerjee’s meeting assumes significance ahead of the August 6 Vice Presidential election. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has announced Jagdeep Dhankar as its Vice-Presidential candidate and Margaret Alva as the opposition candidate.
