Unidentified people pelted stones during the Ganesh idol procession in Akot town of Maharashtra’s Vidarbha district on Wednesday. During this period several policemen and others were injured. The incident took place in Nandipat area at 4 pm, following which the police had to use additional force to control the situation, a police officer said.

Sub-division police officer Anmol Mittal said police arrested 68 people for alleged stone pelting. The case registration process is ongoing. The injured were admitted to the rural hospital. Security has been increased by the police in sensitive areas. According to him, the situation is now under control.
