Maharashtra BJP leader Girish Mahajan on Sunday called his former colleague Eknath Khadse a “light bulb”. This comment came after the announcement of Khadsa’s return to the BJP. In July last year, when the NCP split after Ajit Pawar and eight MLAs joined the Eknath Shinde government, Khadsa sided with Sharad Pawar.
Mahajan further said that he is like a switched off lamp. Not even one ounce of panchayat is in their hands. In the past he controlled the bank, but the board has also changed. Besides, the new board members don’t listen to them. Why should his decision be so important?’ Mahajan, who was Khadsa’s staunch opponent in Jalgaon district, said his wife and daughter had lost elections in the past.
Parted ways with BJP three years ago
It is noteworthy that Khadsa left the party and joined the undivided Nationalist Congress Party about three years ago due to differences with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership in Maharashtra. Khadsa said on Saturday that he will join his mother’s party in Delhi next week. Khadsa, who was a minister in the previous Devendra Fadnavis government, resigned as minister in 2016 over a land deal issue.
After a long wait, the undivided Nationalist Congress Party led by Sharad Pawar made him its member. Khadsa said he was forced to leave the party due to some developments. He is currently a member of the Legislative Council of NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar). Khadsa (71), who was once among the top leaders of the BJP in Maharashtra, said: ‘I am coming back to the BJP. I approached the BJP central leadership and expressed my desire to return to the party. I will officially join BJP in Delhi next week.
