Naveen Markam’s name is considered almost certain from the Congress side for the by-election in Amarwada Assembly in Chhindwara district. The District Congress had sent the names of Mahesh Dhurve, Champalal Kurche and Naveen Markam to the State Congress. Naveen Markam can file nomination on June 20.

On Monday itself, the Gondwana Republic Party has declared Dev Ravin Bhalawi as its candidate for the by-election. Raja Kamlesh Shah in the fray from the BJP. Kamlesh Shah, who was elected MLA from the Amarwada seat on a Congress ticket, had joined the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. He had also resigned from the post of MLA. Because of this, a by-election is to be held on July 10 on the vacant seat.
