NEW DELHI: BJP leaders have criticized the manifesto released by the Congress in the name of Panch Naya for the 18th Lok Sabha election. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma criticized the Congress manifesto not for India but for Pakistan. He accused the Congress of creating a manifesto for Pakistan.
Congress manifesto is suitable for Pakistan elections
Addressing an election rally in Jorhat constituency, Himanta Biswa Sharma said that the Congress election manifesto is more suitable for elections in neighboring Pakistan than in India. The Congress manifesto divides the society on the basis of communities. This is the politics of favoring a community, which I strongly condemn.
No one wants triple talaq
The Congress is trying to create division between communities. But neither Hindus nor Muslims want the return of triple talaq. Sharma defended the ban on triple talaq saying he did not support child marriage or polygamy. The BJP leader said that the Congress mentality was to come to power by dividing the society.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday also criticized the Congress manifesto. The manifesto issued by the Congress reflects the general thinking in the Muslim League at the time of independence. He criticized the rest of the manifesto as being dominated by the Left.
