These days the election campaign for the Lok Sabha elections is at its peak. India’s Lakshadweep archipelago located in the Arabian Sea is also colorful these days in the colors of electoral politics, but an election campaign is conducted here at night instead of during the day. In fact, the month of Ramadan continues, and in Muslim-populated Blacksweep, the nights remain sizzling during the month of Ramadan. This is why political parties also go out in the dark at night to woo their voters.

Election campaign at night due to Ramzan

In Lakshadweep, political parties start their election campaign after 10 pm prayers. The noise of election slogans and public meetings at night has become common in Agathi Island in Lakshadweep. Here Muhammad Faisal is contesting on NCP (Sharad Chandra Pawar) ticket. Hamdullah Saeed is contesting on the Congress ticket. While in many states the Indian Alliance is fighting unitedly against the BJP, in Lakshadweep there is a battle within the Indian Alliance and its allies, the Congress and the NCP (SP) here face to face.

Supporting his party’s candidate, NCP (SP) Agathi unit vice president said, “Faisal always stands for the people of Lakshadweep.” When the current administration implemented new rules, they opposed them. We need MPs like that. Another supporter said, ‘If the opposition alliance cannot come to power, then the people of Lakshadweep will need a strong leader like Faisal to raise their voice.’

Voting will be held in Lakshadweep in the first phase

Voting will be held in the first phase in Lakshadweep on April 19. There are 55 polling stations, spread across 10 islands. A total of 57,594 voters are registered in Lakshadweep. The Congress candidate, Hamdullah Syed, says that Kashadweep is spread over hundreds of kilometers, which is why there is great difficulty in election campaigning here. Hamdullah Syed is the son of the late Speaker of Parliament of Lakshadweep Syed. Chief Minister Syed was the Member of Parliament of Lakshadweep for a long time. Hamdullah Saeed said that there is a connectivity problem in Lakshadweep. We rented a boat for the election campaign, which is quite expensive, but we have no other option. Hamdullah Syed claimed that “when the UPA was in power, there were 10 ferries connecting the main island, which means there was one ferry connecting each island.” Now there is only one boat.
