Canada’s Leila Fernandez continued her preparations for Wimbledon with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 win over seventh-seeded Barbora Krajcikova in the first round on Monday at the Rothesay International tennis tournament.

Fernandez, of Laval, Que., won 81 percent of her first serve points and saved seven of the nine break points she faced.

The Canadian made the most of her chances as she served up a break point by converting five of nine.

Fernandez, who opened her grass season with a run to the third round last week in Birmingham, England, Dabrowski and Rotliffe will next face the winner of the match between qualifiers Victoria Gulovich of Switzerland and Ashlyn Kruger of the United States.

In the doubles match at Eastbourne, the top-seeded pair of Gabriela Dabrovsky and Erin Rutliffe of New Zealand advanced with a 6-3, 6-2 win over the Czech pair of Anna Ciskova and Miriam Kolodzova.

Dabrowski and Rotliff will next face the Chinese tandem Guo Hanyu and Jiang Xinyu.
