In the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNSU) elections, the Left has won all the four seats of President, Vice President, General Secretary and Joint Secretary. While ABVP had to face defeat.

Dhananjay became the Student Union President by getting 2973 votes. ABVP’s Umesh Chandra defeated Ajmira by 934 votes. Vice President Avijit Ghosh got 2649 votes and defeated ABVP’s Deepika Sharma by 1104 votes.

Apart from this, Priyanshi Arya of the Left got 3307 votes and Arjun Anand of the ABVP got 2309 votes for the post of General Secretary. Leftist candidate Mohammad Sajid won the post of Joint Secretary by getting 2893 votes. Whereas, ABVP’s Govind Dangi got 2496 votes.

This time elections have been held in JNU after 4 years. A record turnout of 73% took place on March 22. This is the first time in the last 12 years that so many votes have been cast. Earlier in 2019, 67.9% voted.

Three left parties together in the field
The United Left consisted of All India Students Association (AISA), Democratic Students Federation (DSF), Students Federation of India (SFI) and All India Students Federation (AISF). The Left went to Dhananjay for the post of President, Avijit Ghosh as Vice President and Mohammad Sajid as Joint Secretary.

ABVP had claimed a big victory
ABVP had claimed on Saturday that the saffron has made 5 out of 9 school counselor posts clean. Apart from this, he has also won 12 out of 18 councilor seats. However, no official information was given by the JNU Students Union Election Committee regarding the results of counselor seats on Saturday.

ABVP had informed that the saffron flag has been raised on all three posts in the School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies, only one post in the School of Nano Science, four posts in the School of Engineering and all three position in the School of Computer Systems and Sciences.

More than 7 and a half thousand students have cast their vote
More than 7 and a half thousand students have cast their vote in the JNUSU elections. 17 voting booths were made for voting. A total of 19 candidates were in the fray for the JNUSU central panel. The central panel consisted of the Chairman, the Vice-President, the Joint Secretary and the General Secretary. 42 people tried their luck to get a school counsellor. There was a contest between 8 candidates for the position of President.
