PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Cabinet on Friday approved providing a supplementary grant of Rs 859.8 million to the Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs) in the settled and merged districts to meet salaries, pension and prior liabilities.

The cabinet meeting, chaired by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandpur, also approved the upcoming administrative expenses for which formal approval will be given in the upcoming assembly meeting.

The Cabinet held detailed discussions regarding granting a grant to the Spinkai Cadet College in the tribal district of South Waziristan, a supplementary grant to TMAs and approving the signing of a financial agreement between the KP government and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) unit for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Cabinet has approved the provision of a special financial grant to the Spinkai Cadet College in the tribal district of South Waziristan to take care of the operational expenses of the college. The college currently provides quality education to students in South Waziristan, where rates have been kept to a minimum considering the low economic activity in the region and to provide quality education to a maximum number of students.

The Chief Minister ordered measures to be taken to provide a fund for scholarships to needy students and students with martyred parents from the cadet colleges of Spinkai and Vana.

CM Gandapur also directed the relevant quarters to make concrete proposals to relieve the district government of unnecessary liabilities, increase revenue through reforms, effective utilization of government property and pragmatic steps to change the lease policy to generate improved revenue.

He also directed the TMA and the Agriculture Department to increase the market places (mandis) in every district of the province.

The provincial cabinet also approved the signing of a financial agreement between the KP government and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for sustainable development.
