BJP has canceled ticket of Karnataka MP Ananth Kumar Hegde. He had said on March 10 that if NDA got 400 seats then the Constitution would be changed. After this the party distanced itself from his statement.

Political analysts believe that this time BJP is not giving tickets to those leaders who repeatedly come to the fore by making controversial statements.

In 28 years, Ananth Hegde won the Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha seat six times. Apart from this, he has been an MLA six times and the Speaker of Karnataka in the Assembly and a Cabinet Minister.

3 controversial statements of Anant Hegde…

  1. The Constitution will have to be amended because the people of Congress have fundamentally changed it by making some unnecessary changes. Especially laws related to the Hindu community. If all this has to be changed it cannot be done without a two-thirds majority. This change can be made if the NDA gets more than 400 seats.
  2. We are members of BJP and Sangh Parivar. If we stay here there will be peace in the world. If we are not there, there is no world peace. I had said earlier that as long as Islam exists, there will be no world peace. After that they filed a case against me. I am not afraid of all this.
  3. Just as Babri Masjid was demolished, Chinnada Palli Masjid will be demolished. The media may write it as a threat, but we don’t care. We will do this. This is not Hegde’s decision but Hindu society’s decision.

Rahul had said – the hidden plans of Sangh Parivar are coming out
On Hegde’s statement, Rahul Gandhi said – BJP’s ultimate goal is to destroy Babasaheb’s Constitution. He had written on social media

They hate justice, equality, civil rights and democracy. We will not let these conspiracies succeed along with the dreams of the heroes of freedom and we will continue to fight for the democratic rights guaranteed by the Constitution until our last breath.

BJP distanced itself from the statement and sought answers from Hegde.
After the attack from the opposition, the BJP distanced itself from Hegde’s statement. Karnataka BJP said, this is Hegde’s personal opinion. An explanation is sought from him. Party spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said the BJP has always worked in the constitutional ethos and national interest.

Anant Hegde won continuously from 2004 to 2019
Ananth Kumar Hegde is a five-time BJP Lok Sabha MP from Uttara Kannada, Karnataka. He first reached the 11th Lok Sabha in 1996 at the age of 27 by being elected as a member. Elections were then contested in the year 1998. After this, in the year 1999, he narrowly lost to Margaret Alva of the Congress. After this, he has won four times in a row in the years 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019.
