BJP has canceled ticket of Karnataka MP Ananth Kumar Hegde. He had said on March 10 that if NDA got 400 seats then the Constitution would be changed. After this the party distanced itself from his statement.
Political analysts believe that this time BJP is not giving tickets to those leaders who repeatedly come to the fore by making controversial statements.
In 28 years, Ananth Hegde won the Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha seat six times. Apart from this, he has been an MLA six times and the Speaker of Karnataka in the Assembly and a Cabinet Minister.

BJP distanced itself from the statement and sought answers from Hegde.
After the attack from the opposition, the BJP distanced itself from Hegde’s statement. Karnataka BJP said, this is Hegde’s personal opinion. An explanation is sought from him. Party spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said the BJP has always worked in the constitutional ethos and national interest.

Ananth Kumar Hegde is a five-time BJP Lok Sabha MP from Uttara Kannada, Karnataka. He first reached the 11th Lok Sabha in 1996 at the age of 27 by being elected as a member. Elections were then contested in the year 1998. After this, in the year 1999, he narrowly lost to Margaret Alva of the Congress. After this, he has won four times in a row in the years 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019.
