GUWAHATI: All schools in Kamrup District (Metro) must comply with revised timings issued from September 21, as per the instructions of the District Mission Coordinator, Kamrup Metro.

Due to an ongoing heat wave in the district, safety guidelines have been issued to all schools until further notice. These measures will apply to all private, state and central government schools operating in the district.
The revised timetables state that school hours may begin at 7:30 am and end at 12:30 pm. Furthermore, morning assemblies will be held inside classrooms, not on the open campus.
Appropriate arrangements should be made by the school authorities for the supply of drinking water in the school campus. Furthermore, students were also advised not to wear a bra or ties.
In addition, the classrooms must be ventilated and all fans must be active. In the event of a power outage, schools will need to arrange alternative power sources to ensure regular ventilation.
The recent heat wave in Assam has made it difficult for local residents to travel back and forth from their daily activities.
