JNU student elections | ABVP could not grow teeth, left students win again in JNU Achi-News

New Delhi: The left student body won the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student council elections. Alliance of Left Left Oikya student parties defeated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad by 4-0 margin. The candidates of the Left Students’ Union have won the positions of President, Vice-President, General Secretary and Joint Secretary. Their Dhananjay has been elected Student Council President. Umesh Chandra Ajmira defeated ABVP by 922 votes. The JNUSU elections were held on Friday but the results were declared on Sunday. After four years, this is the first time that JNU student body elections are being held.

All India Students Association (AISA), Democratic Students Federation (DSF), Students Federation of India (SFI) and All India Students Federation (AISF) contested the election against Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

Abhijit Ghosh of Left Students Union has been elected Vice President. Deepika Sharma defeated ABVP by 927 votes. Priyanshi Arya (Birsa Ambedkar Phule Students Association, left-backed) defeated Arjun Anand (ABVP) for the post of general secretary by 926 votes. Mohammad Sajid (Left) defeated Govind Dangi (ABVP) by 508 votes for the post of joint secretary.

JNU Election Committee Chairman Shailendra Kumar said, ‘Dhananjay has been elected President.’ Dhananjay lives in Gaya in Bihar. Ph.D student He was elected the first JNUSU Dalit president after Battilal Bairwa.
