The Jharkhand High Court, during the hearing, directed the state government that no punitive action be taken against the cases registered against the BJP leaders. In fact, on April 11 last year, BJP leaders protested outside the secretariat. In this case, a case of violation of ban order has been registered against Jharkhand BJP leaders including BJP state president Babulal Marandi, Union Minister Arjun Munda, Godda MP Nishikant Dubey, Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth and former Chief Minister Raghubar Das at Dhurwa police station.

The court asked the state government to submit an affidavit in the case. The next hearing in this case will be held again on May 8.

The police used tear gas and explosives

There was a clash with the police among the BJP workers marching towards the secretariat. The police fired tear gas shells, water cannons and distributed explosives to prevent the protesters from marching towards the secretariat. The then state president and BJP MP Deepak Prakash said we will not allow this corrupt government to run in Jharkhand. We decided to show them the way out. Many of our workers were injured in the police shelling.” Prakash claimed that the protests by saffron party workers across the state had ‘created a sense of fear’ in the Jharkhand government and the chief minister left Ranchi ‘out of fear’.

Inspector of Police to submit report on actions taken against unauthorized meat shops: Jharkhand High Court

In another case, the court on Wednesday directed the superintendents of police in all districts of the state to submit a report on the action taken against unauthorized meat shops operating in their jurisdiction. A bench of Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad and Justice Arun Kumar Rai gave this order while hearing a defense filed By a person named Shyamand Pandey Pandey raised the issue of open sale of meat in his petition.

Pandey said that despite specific directives from the High Court and the Supreme Court, illegal meat shops are operating everywhere in the country. Pandey said in his petition that carcasses of dead animals are being hung in the open on roads in the capital in flagrant violation of municipal rules. Shops are operating openly on roadsides without any license. The Ranchi Municipal Corporation told the court that action has been taken against illegal meat shops. The petitioner informed the court that although a slaughter house has been set up in Kanka, very few meat sellers take animals there for slaughter. The next hearing of this case will be held on April 23.
