However, some people come to the last decade of Ramadan and perform Itikaaf in the hope of getting close to Allah. I’tikaf is a servant who leaves all worldly concerns and waits at his door only hoping to get close to Allah, apart from being busy in his worship in a quiet environment. Saudi authorities informed that the number of Itikaf pilgrims at Masjid al-Haram has doubled this year. Last year the number of Itikaf was 3000. But this year due to efficient management and planning, the number of Itikaf has increased by 100 percent. In an interview with the Arabic channel Al-Ekhbariya, the head of the mosque’s guidance and counseling department, Abdul Mohsen Al Ghamdi, said that the number of people observing Itikaf has doubled this year. Among them there are 5 thousand men, 1 thousand women. Three floors have been allocated separately for those performing Itikaaf. Registration for Itikaf at Masjidul Haram has started on March 17, ie, from 7 Ramadan. Registration is done through the authority’s website. It is learned that the registration will continue until the designated places for Itikaaf in the mosque are filled. However, certain conditions have been imposed regarding Itikaaf in Masjid al-Haram. One of these is that the age of the applicant for Itikaf cannot be less than 18 years. And on the 20th of Ramadan, Masjid al-Haram must be attended at the appointed time for Itikaaf.
It should be noted that at the start of Ramadan this year, the relevant authorities have imposed a ban on iftar in order to keep the interior of the mosque clean.
