There are a number of conspiracy theories that saw progress as the flow of information and communication became easier, thanks to technology.
Some also believe such legends about the far reaches of Antarctica that never cease to raise people’s eyebrows. Those who believe that the Earth is flat consider the frozen continent to be a wall covering the Earth.
The recent revelation reported by Metro UK mention of a door found in Antarctica.
The Reddit channel Conspiracy – with 2.1 million members – uploaded a picture showing a rectangular shaped object under the snow appearing to be an opening of something.
The members immediately considered that it was a door and its use.
According to people quoted in the report, “it was an entrance to an underground base camp,” but others considered it to be some sort of seed storage facility.
The authenticity of these claims remains elusive but some users considered it a bunker where Adolf Hitler was hidden.
However, when the coordinates were revealed, it wasn’t anything people were guessing as it was a research facility, a few hundred meters from Japan’s Showa Station, on East Ongul Island in Queen Maud Land.
It had over 60 buildings which included living quarters, a power plant, a sewage treatment facility, an observatory, and a satellite building.
The image attracted hundreds of comments in just a few hours after it was posted.
