India Supports Africa Greater Role in UN Multilateral Forums Says Eam Jaishankar – Amar Ojala Live Hindi News Achi-News

On the occasion of Africa Day, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Union Sh. Jaishankar addressed a gathering in the capital Delhi. Here he spoke about the relations between India and Africa. He said the two countries will have to work together very closely. Jaishankar further said that India looks forward to a mutually beneficial and mutually respectful relationship in the true spirit of being a global brother. He said India supports a greater role for Africa in the UN and multilateral forums.

Jaishankar also spoke on defense issues of India and Africa. According to him, the defense relations between the two countries are progressing strongly. Even Africa’s defense ministers have met in India several times. The Union Foreign Minister said: “Military officers from many countries are trained in our military institutions. India has also contributed to the establishment of defense institutions in Nigeria, Ethiopia and Tanzania.” He further said, “India has deployed training teams in several African countries such as Botswana, Namibia, Uganda, Lesotho, Zambia, Mauritius, Seychelles and Tanzania.”

Jaishankar further said, “India is the third largest contributor to UN peacekeeping operations. At present, about five thousand Indian personnel are serving in five peacekeeping missions in Africa.” Highlighting the importance of Africa’s role in the United Nations and other multilateral forums, he said, “During our G20 presidency, you would see that India has decided to put the Global South at the center The global discussion. We will focus only on the needs of Africa, not only that, but also to emphasize the aspirations of Africa.”

Jaishankar also appreciated the participation of African countries in the International Solar Alliance (ISA), the Global Biological Alliance and the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI). Calling for strengthening ties between India and Africa, Jaishankar said he was looking forward to the fourth India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS IV).
